Title
Performance indicator for residential solar-optimised EV chargers
Abstract
This paper evaluates the real-world performance of residential EV chargers with a focus on solar-optimised charging. Five devices were tested in the laboratory and used for a validation of a simulation framework. The validated simulation of the EV chargers were then applied to year-long time series. A performance indicator (PI) was introduced to quantify efficiency and grid interaction. The results show that the simulation captures the main control behaviour of each device. Furthermore, the comparative analysis reveals PI values between 85% and above 95%, demonstrating substantial differences across the devices.
