Recent advances in digital transmission of HDTV

This paper reviews some of the latest developments in image compression. Besides a description of the coding schemes of already implemented systems or systems under development, it focuses on contribution and distribution aspects of HDTV over terrestrial (over the air) networks, cable networks and satellites.
