Title

Dispersion-managed fiber (DMF): Experimental & economic evaluation

Abstract
We report an experimental comparison of 40 Gbit/s transmission over DMF and G.652 fibers and find a 30% reach advantage for DMF. Cost modelling for a generic German backbone network quantifies DMF economic advantage.
