Static concentration systems with enhanced light concentration

Very high efficiencies have recently been achieved with Si solar cells in the laboratory. This paper presents new concepts for static concentration leading to significantly reduced solar cell area and thus reduced cost. Starting with a very simple concept yielding concentration by a factor two with very little additional module cost other static concentrator designs are introduced leading to concentration factors of up to ten. The limitations and energy losses of these concepts are analyzed.
