Title
A CORDIC-based floating point arithmetic unit
Abstract
A floating-point arithmetic unit based on the CORDIC algorithm is described. It computes a wide range of arithmetic, trigonometric, and hyperbolic functions and achieves a normalized peak performance of 220 MFLOPs. The unit is implemented in 1.6 fm double-metal CMOS technology and packaged in a 280 pin PGA.
