Title

Contour measurements with lasers

Abstract
The laser enables a variety of different methods to measure the shape or the cross section of an object. From these the interferometric methods are characterized by accuracies up to the nanometer- range which is only of interest for the inspection of high-precision parts. With respect to specifications of typical automobile components micrometer-accuracies are aufficient. Suitable laser-based contour measuring techniques are presented in this paper.
