Competence management challenges, requirements and barriers in the implementation process
Abstract
Successful companies are often aware of their human capital as a unique selling point. Improving an organisation's ability to manage its competence is important when the value creation within the organisation relies heavily on the skills, attitudes and knowledge of its employees. Nevertheless, to manage competences in a way to enable fast and smart time-to-market ability for products and services is often accidentally initialized, seldom systematically planned. In this paper some ideas and theses how to implement and manage competences will be illustrated. Aim of this paper is not to present a closed model for the implementation of a competence management approach but to give an outline of important aspects and challenges in implementing a competence management approach.
