How to design visualization tools to support the exploration of the sea?

In addition to the implementation of visualization tools to support the scientific exploration of the sea scientists of the FhG IGD Rostock carried out a study about requirements on visualization tools in marine research and GIS in the spring of 1994. The following paper will give an overview about the results of the study and will evaluate the visualization tools for marine research developed by the FhG IGD Rostock. This description is performed from a software engineering point of view.
