Title

Optical harmonic upconversion for microwave generation in bidirectional broadband mobile communication system

Abstract
Two low phase noise microwave signals in the 18-20 GHz band have been remotely generated for bidirectional 140 Mbit/s OQPSK-transmissions by applying a simple optical harmonic upconversion technique. One carrier is modulated by the downlink data and the other one serves as local oscillator signal for the uplink mixer in the base station.
