Title

Web-based planning and operation support using e-services

Abstract
A new approach for the planning and operation of production or logistics systems is proposed. The web-based use of simulation and 3-D visualization forms the common, consistent and confidence-building discussion basis in the phase of system planning and tender generation. Further on it prevents possible deficits and misinterpretations. This allows the active integration of system operators in the planning process at an early project stage. In the operation phase e-services enable customers to run production or logistic systems in a requirement-meeting and optimized way. Additionally, the use of the value-added-services reduces investment as well as operating cost, since no expensive software licenses and hardware has to be procured and maintained. Supported by a service platform the 3D-planning and simulation models are available to the user in all phases of the life-cycle of logistics or production system.
