Title
Modeling damage cascades in critical infrastructure for power outages
Abstract
This paper shows a network modeling approach which encompasses a diverse set of critical infrastructures and their mutual dependencies. It can be employed to analyze and quantify the effects of various disasters, e.g., large-scale, long-lasting power outages. The approach simulates damage cascades based on the numerous interdependencies between the CIs, i.e., the temporal evolution of the system breakdown is evaluated. As an application, the effects of power outages on network models for two regions in Germany are inspected.
