Title

Determining of micro structuring technologies for nucleate boiling surfaces

Other Title
Ermittlung von Mikrofertigungsverfahren für Oberflächen für das Blasenssieden
Abstract
Since the power density of power and high-power electronics are increasing steadily, cooling technologies based on nucleate boiling processes are in focus of interest. Due to the principle of nucleate boiling, high amounts of heat loss can be removed, even with small heat transfer surfaces. In this study the nucleate boiling process and the possibilities to increase the heat transfer rate using micro structured surfaces are characterized. Further, selected micro structures fabricated with micro manufacturing technologies are presented. For testing the functionality of these micro structures for nucleate boiling processes, an experimental setup was developed which is demonstrated in this paper. Also selected results of experiments are shown.
