Especially for small and medium size enterprises (SME) there is a lack on qualified systems for controlling logistics, which were badly needed to keep up in the national and international competition. Simulation will take a major role in automation systems for enterprises in the future. Besides the simulation systems for planning and design, simulations systems supporting control and decision in real time and online will become more important. A realtime solution of the scheduling problem with technical restriction will be the focus. Based on the experience with simulation based methods for scheduling in flexible manufacturing systems and cells and for centralized tool management, simulation based tools for management and scheduling problems in SME are the main focus of development in the IITB.
