Dimensioning of suspension components by derived load time histories and numeric simulation
Abstract
Methodes being used and approved for the experimental proof out of suspension components and respective analysis concepts are proposed to improve the reliability of computer modeling for the dimensioning in the very early design phase. Design spectra are derived from kinematic and dynamic models in combination with experience from extensive measurements on existing cars. The fatigue strength requested for an optimum design with respect to the design spectra is calculated for the individual highly loaded areas. Consequently, measurements on test tracks and round tracks are evaluated for their damaging of suspension compents with highly loaded areas stressed by different wheel load components. Finally the damage of programmes for the durability approval are evaluated for materials with different fatigue behaviour.
