Title

A study of speech encoding based on adaptive prediction techniques

Abstract
Describes the possibilities of bit rate reduction using a predictor, the coefficients of which are readjusted due to the non-stationary nature of speech (adaptive prediction). It is shown that a reduction of 2.5 bit/sample is attainable. A reduction of nearly 4 bit/sample can be achieved employing an optimum quantizer together with entropy coding.
