Title
Hartstoff-Dispersionsschichten auf Aluminium-Legierungen zum Verschleißschutz
Abstract
Technological investigations have been done to disperse coarse grained TiC and TiB2 hard particles into the surface of pure aluminum and the AlSi10Mg alloy by a multi-kilowatt CO2-laser. By means of proper shaping the laser beam and high laser beam intensities, it was possible to suppress almost the melt bath convection and to produce homogeneous and pore free hard particle dispersion layers with thicknesses tip to 0.25 mm. Essential higher microhardnesses have been measured in the layer matrix compared with those of the substrate. In abrasive wear tests with 40 mu m SiC as abrasive medium these dispersion layers provided volume losses 11 to 75 times smaller compared to those of the AlSi10Mg alloy.
