Statistical Simulation Development Using Example of Thermite Mixtures

Abstract
Burning rates were measured of Al/ MnO3 thermite samples pressed tablet forms in an autoclave i.e. an optical bomb. The measurements were done and planned according to a design of experiment plan (face centered central composite design). The process factors were the pressure in the autoclave and the porosity of the samples. The burning rate was between 19 mm/s and 95 mm/s and a prediction model composed of the process pressure and porosity could be achieved. The model contains the process pressure and porosity also an interaction between these two factors and quadratic terms of the two factors.
