A contribution to the automatic image sequence analysis of crash-tests in the automobile-industry
Abstract
A new technique for the evaluation of image sequences of crash-tests in the automobil-industry is introduced. The method realizes an automatic search, automatic positioning and robust tracking of crashmarks. It replaces correlation based methods and exceeds it regarding robustness and accuracy. The reproducibility of the measurements is very good. The method uses the M-Operator filtering to achieve high sensitivity and good performance under various lighting conditions. A projective model of the crashmarks is used to achieve robust searching and tracking. The method is tested with a large set of crash-sequences. Reliable quantitative motion analysis of dummies and vehicle components are feasible.
