Coherent Modulation for Free-Space Optical Communications: Impact of Turbulence and Link Optimization
Abstract
The performance of coherent free-space optical (FSO) communications systems is degraded by the adverse effects of atmospheric turbulence. We review the impact of atmospheric turbulence on coherent FSO through simulation and experiment, as well as discuss techniques for turbulence mitigation in coherent FSO links.
