A comparative study of diamond-shaped passband filters for subband coding

Abstract
This contribution focuses on the analysis and synthesis filter banks for subband coding with non-separable filters and quincunx subsampling. This kind of subband coding is very interesting if the filters have a diamond-shaped passband characteristic. After a review of different methods to calculate this kind of filter banks their efficiency for HDTV subband coding is compared.
