Titel

Textile floor coverings as sinks for indoor air pollutants

Abstract
Climate chamber studies have been used to demonstrate that textile floor coverings act as efficient sinks for volatile organic compounds (VOCs) found in the indoor environment. A model was developed which allows to determine from the experimental data the main parameters which describe the adsorption process of these VOCs on textile floor coverings, in particular the ratio for the rate constant of adsorption, ka and desorption, kd. This model can be applied similarily to other indoor materials.
