Title
Tape-Legekopf zur Herstellung sphärischer faserverstärkter Bauteile
Abstract
Composite structures, specially the reinforced plastics, displays more and more the conventional construction materials, and cast iron, steel and aluminium from important indutries as car- and aircraft industry. One of the manufacturing methods for continuous fibers is the tape-laying process. The tape is laid up by a tape laying head, which is normally fed by a roller of tape. Ply after ply is laid up till the required number of plies is achieved. At the Fraunhofer-Institut IPT, Aachen, a new tape layer is developed, which will be attached to the Z-axis of a portal robot. According to the complex parts, which shall be produced, the tape laying head is designed very compact. 6 main axes for the positioning of the tape layer and 2 rotary axes for rotating and pivoting the mandrel are available for this technique. So, very complex structures, concave and convex contours, can be layed with prepregs.
