Title
Calibration methods for high-g accelerometers
Abstract
High-g accelerometers are calibrated by dynamically loading them with sub-millisecond transient mechanical pulses and comparing their output with a reference measurement system. Usually, the determination of sensitivity is conducted by a peak value comparison. In this paper we present a calibration method that evaluates and compares all points of the measured pulse, thus leading to more calibration data per experiment. The method is applied to different reference measurement methods used during Hopkinson bar trials in the range of 20,000 g.
