Title

Status Quo of Blockchain Applications in Green Hydrogen Supply Chains

Abstract
Due to the environmental pollution caused by the excessive use of fossil fuels, attempts are being made to break this dependency through an energy transition towards carbon-free alternatives. Green hydrogen is seen as a crucial element of the energy transition. The development of a functioning hydrogen economy and the use of green hydrogen technologies are essential to achieve the climate targets that have been set. However, complementary technologies related to green hydrogen are also essential to build a sustainable hydrogen economy. Blockchain technology, in particular, offers far-reaching potential for the digitalization of the supply chain. Therefore, this paper examines possible blockchain technology applications in the green hydrogen supply chain. For this purpose, a systematic literature review and a case study on real applications of startups, established companies and research projects will be conducted. Finally, the potential applications are categorized into four clusters that describe different application areas along the green hydrogen supply chain.
