Title
A high speed video system with motion analysis
Abstract
A high speed video system was developed which can be used in the production floor. Short sequences with 400 up to 6400 frames/sec can be stored in a semiconductor RAM. In the basic operation mode a camera with 128x128 pixels produces 400 frames/sec. By selection only a reduced number of lines per frame, the frame rate increases up to 6400 frames/sec. A computer interface with direct access to the picture RAM allows to implement further processing of the recorded sequences, for example an analysis and graphic presentation of the movement of selectable points, edges or areas. Special lenses like endoscopes with illuminations are also available. So the system is suited for automatic inspecting ans qualifying fast mechanic movements in research, manufacturing and quality control. Standing alone, fast series can be analysed by a slow motion option.
