Abstract
The aim of safe light weight design requires increasing efforts for component design in the design process. A significant change of the component's topology in order to reach the aim of light weight design may lead to unsafe components, taking customer use into account. The component's light weight shape may become more sensitive to varying operational loads or to varying adjacent components. Computational methods can support the way to light weight design in an efficient way.
