Inverter-Dominated Future Power Systems: A Roadmap for System Stability

Abstract
The power supply system is transforming to achieve climate neutrality, with renewable energy sources (RES) becoming the dominant generation technology. This shift needs new strategies to maintain system stability as conventional power plants are phased out. With high shares of RES and battery storages connected at the subtransmission and distribution grid level and increasing electrification across various sectors - such as electric mobility and hydrogen production - the question arises: How can we ensure the stability of our power systems in this new era?
