Title

Late allergic response in sensitized rats

Title Supplement
Comparison of invasive and noninvasive lung function measurements
Abstract
The development of sensitive physiological methodologies that allow simple and repetitive determination of airway responsiveness in intact organisms is necessary to study the functional consequences of in vitro findings in the lung in vivo. In this study, we investigated the airway responsiveness of sensitized and allergen-challenged Brown Norway rats, comparing the noninvasively measured tidal midexpiratory flow parameter (EF50) with the invasively measured golden standard parameters lung resistance and dynamic compliance. In addition, the the invasive measurements, EF50 was measured for an intraindividual comparison. The complete study will be reported elsewhere.
