Title

FAT-guideline "Dynamic Material Properties for Crashsimulations"

Abstract
The FAT-guideline [1] was developed to reliably determine crash-relevant, strain-rate dependent material properties as required by the automotive industry for crash simulations. The application was verified by crash tests and crash simulations of an automotive structural component. The specifications of this guideline enable different laboratories to determine unique, standardised crash-properties by high rate tensile tests for materials under operational conditions. These qualified data can be used as input data for crash simulations, and to establish a validated database for automotive materials. Therefore, the guideline contributes to the predictive accuracy of future crash simulations, and thus to the safety of traffic participants.
