Title

EMANZE: A comparative study on emergency management in Australia, New Zealand and Europe

Abstract
The 2006 EMANZE international survey study looked into 'Emergency Management in Australia, New Zealand and Europe', with Germany as the focus country in Europe. This paper reports and compares the findings obtained from expert interviews carried out in these countries, where emergency management officials at various levels were asked about responsibilities, technology use, perceived emergency preparedness, opinions on current is-sues, the handling of certain emergency scenarios, etc. The study suggests that, while recent technology advances have greatly improved the organizations' ability to cope with emergencies, there is an unexploited potential for contributions by the academic community.
