Mobile Kommunikation - Heute und Morgen

Progress in communication technologies facilitates that modern communication services can be offered not only to stationary partners, but increasingly also to mobile ones. In particular, the combination of automobile and communication technologies promises interesting perspectives. Some of these are currently being investigated in the freamework of the PROMETHEUS-Programme to increase the safety and efficiency of street traffic. This contribution discusses current activities as the expansion of research and development which can be traced back over many decades into the past, thus providing perspective for current and planned investigations.
