Title
Experience Design based on Values and Psychological Needs in a Corporate Context
Abstract
In Experience Design the focus is shifting from users to the technology creators. These people need to have a human-centred mindset to design for positive user experience of digital products and services. Hence, the traditional user-centred perspective of usability and user experience design expands to also include the values and psychological needs of company employees creating user-centred technology. To succeed in practice, companies need to be aware of their employees’ values and psychological needs and its impact on the success of the company. In this paper we present empirical results assessed to transfer the theoretical concepts of values and psychological needs into the context of companies. The findings suggest that the employees psychological needs and values are important in a corporate context. Also, it seems to be possible to transfer methods from experience design to the domain of designing for values. However, additional results indicate that companies should facilitate a supportive company culture and the correct mindset to foster the consideration of the employees and users psychological needs and values.
