Title

Mirror modulated lasers: a concept for high speed transmitters

Abstract
A new transmitter type 'MirMod' is presented, in which, for the first time an optical data pattern is generated by electrically modulating the reflectivity of laser mirrors. The pump current is kept constant. Advantages of the new transmitter are low control power, high speed, and low chirp.
