Title
Game-based learning for IMINT reconnaissance? First concept and challenges
Abstract
The concept of game-based learning is the state-of-the-art approach for technology enhanced learning. Main feature is to evoke intrinsic motivation due to game progress, gratification and incentive systems and enjoyment of game play to support learning while not forgetting the learning target. What can I learn by playing - or better: What kind of digital serious game will support my learning objectives? In terms of image exploitation in the C4ISR domain (Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance) the interpretation of different images with a diverse set of sensors, technical variables and context dependent processing is demanding and needs extensive training. We present a work in progress of designing a serious game for image interpreters from an applied-research, project-oriented point of view.
