Ursache und Nachweis von Fehlgerüchen unbedruckter Kartons

Kurzkettige Fettsäuren sind häufig für Fehlgerüche unbedruckter Kartons verantwortlich. Sie bilden sich als mikrobiologische Stoffwechselprodukte im Kreislaufwasser der Papierfabrik und haften den Kartons an. Eine gaschromatographische Nachweismethode für diese organischen Säuren wird beschrieben, die für die Qualitätskontrolle unbedruckter Kartons geeignet erscheint. Mit der spezifischen Zusammensetzung der Fettsäuren können unterschiedliche Fehlgerüche von Kartons erklärt werden.

Short-chain fatty acids are the main origin of off-odours in unprinted cardboard. They are developed by microorganisms within the water systems of paper mills and remain within the boards. A gaschromatographic method for the estimation of these fatty acids is described which seems useful for the quality control of unprinted carton boards. The various types of off-odours in cardboards may be explained with respect to the specific distribution of fatty acids.
