Abstract
Experimental investigation of the relation between the cross wedge rolling process parameter and the quality of the AA6082 alloy rolled pieces is presented in the paper. Test workpieces were produced in a flat-wedge tooling. Reduction ratio (35 and 46 %), billet temperature (460, 500 and 540 °C), rolling speed (800 mm/s) and tooling temperature (200 250 °C) were selected as test-variables. The workpieces were investigated on both surface and internal defects as well as on material structure - stability on recrystallization in T6 temper condition. In addition, the numerical simulation of the impact of billet temperature on the recrystallization level in material was performed. The experimental results showed that the higher billet temperature, the higher reduction ratio and the higher tooling temperature give material a higher stability on recrystallization. At the same time not any relation between these parameters and the surface and internal defects that can appear in the CWR workpiece, was found. Furthermore, a satisfactory consistency has been demonstrated by comparison of results obtained from experiments regarding stability on recrystallization and those predicted by simulations.
