Zur spannungsoptischen Messung von Eigenspannungsverteilungen in vorgespannten Glaesern an Schliffproben

A common method to determine the distribution of internal stresses in thermally or chemically toughened glasses depends on stress-optical measurements made on ground samples over a suitably chosen cross section. Using a critical example it is shown that the measured stresses can depend on the dimensions of the sample. The applicability of this finding to other cases is discussed.
