Title
Visualization by Metamorphosis
Abstract
This paper proposes the use of metamorphosis-techniques to visualize parametric data. Metamorphosis-techniques provide a way to generate smooth transitions of one object into another, a process commonly referred to as morphing. By morphing between two objects we get an interval of objects. If we morph between an element of such an interval and a third object we have a two-dimensional space of objects. In this way we can construct a space of any dimension and, thus, visualize multivariate data or multidimensional objects with the objects of such spaces as representations. The approach can also be used if one or more of the variates consist of nominal data, in which case one has to specify objects for every value.
