Abstract
Discusses video encoding efficiency with the H.26L standard, and reports work by the Video Coding Experts Group of ITU-T. Video encoding algorithms are described in detail, and a hybrid video codec is shown. Various video encoding standards are compared, starting with the CCITT (re-named the ITU-T in 1984). The author deals with MPEG-2 compression and with the H.263 video compression standard. The efficiencies of video encoding standards are compared and JPEG and H.261 (ITU-T) standards are compared. The author also refers to motion compensation.
