Studies on liquid injection and jet formation

This paper presents some experimental and computational studies on liquid propellant injection. The studies' main aspect was to gain more knowledge about physical properties and the dynamic behaviour of liquids, e.g. in order to find an exact description of the jet formation process and to establish physical relations for the flow properties. The experimental part of these studies was carried out at EMI-AFB, the computational work was done at Rheinmetall. The results of these and further investigations will be used in the design of regenerative liquid propellant gun systems. (EMI)
