Title
Dynamic Energy Flexibility Pricing for Industrial Energy Systems
Abstract
The concept of energy flexibility on the demand side offers benefits in reducing energy costs for industrial consumers and optimizing energy supply in grids. Recent efforts to access these benefits include the development of decision models and the integration of flexibility in production planning and control. This paper proposes a new approach for determining the specific flexibility costs of energy flexibility measures dependent upon market prices and used energy. The method is based on an iterative process integrated into a dynamic simulation and optimization to consider system behavior and constraints. The examined case study consists of an energy-flexible industrial facility with a ventilation system, charging stations for electric vehicles, and an electrical storage system, participating in the day-ahead market. Results show increased pricing accuracy of energy flexibility measures for the novel method compared to previously proposed static pricing methods. Thus, providing enhanced information for the optimized use of energy flexibility in industrial energy systems.
