Title
Fast and High-Resolution Laser Radar Using Amplitude and Time-Delay Compensation
Abstract
Laser-radars for scanning 3D measurement systems as well as velocity measurements should allow both high measurement rate and accuracy. Initially, this paper introduces a relative measurement time efficiency of radar devices in order to characterise the measurement speed compared to an ideal system. In addition, we present a fast pulse laser-radar, based on the compensation of amplitude and time delay of the received signal. In comparison to conventional pulse radars the device possesses two major advantages: first an increased measurement rate by more than one order of magnitude without loosing accuracy and second an improved accuracy with the same measuring rate.
