Coating based on waxes, oils and natural resins as used for wooden surface protection in the past had non-permanent effect. By applying paints based on modern synthetic resins the durability has been improved, however, blue-stain fungi are still able to destroy this type of paints despite biocide proofing of the paints. Conventional tests need up to 14 months until they allow information about the fungi resistance, therefore a development of a new fast testmethod was required.
