Shared Authoring in a World Wide Web Environment

Human cooperation and interaction is highly dependent on efficient means for communication. By allowing information instead of people to travel, sophisticated tools for telework reduce cost and improve efficiency. While the World Wide Web provides powerful tools for information retrieval, it still lacks support for document authoring. This article analyzes the requirements for a system for distributed access and authoring of documents, and introduces a prototype implementation.
