A fast polarization controller for coherent phase diversity receivers

A coherent phase diversity ASK/DPSK receiver with fast and simple polarization control is presented. The receiver employs an optical 90 degrees hybrid and a LiNbO3 integrated optic polarization transformer providing polarization control with a 3 dB bandwidth of >1 kHz and with possible endless control.
