Title

On Conversion Gain in Active Tags for Harmonic Radar at mmWaves - Considerations and Limitations

Abstract
This paper explores the enhancement of conversion gain in harmonic radar (HR) tags. It discusses limits and effects that must be considered, supported by measurement results with a HR at 61/122 GHz illustrating the impact of two different tags on system properties. Emphasis is placed on extending range through high conversion gain, addressing the effects of crosstalk, uncontrolled amplification, and multipath propagation.
