Disposable flat panel airlift photobioreactors

Single-use technology based on disposable bioreactors is gaining more and more importance in biotechnology due its high flexibility, easy handling and ready-to-use character when supplied. A disposable, low-cost, transparent flat panel airlift photobioreactor with optimized flow regime for the efficient cultivation of microalgae and production of microalgal metabolites is presented and possible applications are discussed.
