Title
Performance evaluation of hysteresis-based PI state control for grid-connected NPC voltage-fed power converter with LCL filter
Abstract
With the steady transition towards a more dominant decentralized power generation and the further reduction of conventional fossil fuel-based power plants, future utility grids require higher demands regarding voltage quality and supply reliability. Active power filters with energy storage capability, here referred to as Power Conditioning Systems (PCS), offer grid supporting and stabilizing measures to meet those demands. This paper evaluates a hysteresis-based PI state control method for a grid-connected voltage source converter with LCL filter. The dynamic performance of the proposed control strategy has been simulated in Matlab/Simulink, implemented on an FPGA control system, and experimentally validated on a PCS test bench with a three-level NPC voltage-fed power converter.
