Application-oriented research on machining processes

The paper gives a survey of current research works on the field of machining technologies at the Fraunhofer Institute for Machine Tools and Forming Technology (Germany). Results of grinding, cutting and high precision machining are presented. The main focus lies on numerical simulations of chip and burr forming processes as well as tool and workpiece behavior.
