Abstract
The report informs about the Fraunhofer Iwu and ist cooperation projects.Fraunhofer IWU contributed to many research projects in the field of material and pro-cess engineering and gained profound knowledge about incremental sheet metal forming processes. Therefore Fraunhofer IWU owns different kinds of forming machines and measurement equipment which enables a goal-oriented and effective execution of projects. The Fraunhofer IWU is one of the most renowned research institutes for industrially-led production technology in Germany. Thereby research on the theoretical basis of innovative sheet metal forming methods and the transfer to operational practice is one of the core competences of the Institute. A main focus in this context is the development of strategies, which allow a geometry-flexible production of sheet metal components. Therefore, in the field of prototyping and the production of small batch sizes, numerous research and industrial projects were carried out.
